A Message to the People of God Concerning the Coronovirus Epidemic From Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone

March 17, 2020

"...For the time being, and until further notice, there will be no public celebration of Mass.

Since the celebration of Mass in public is not available, the faithful are not bound by the obligation of Sunday Mass attendance. To be more precise: to “keep the Lord’s Day holy” is the precept of the third Commandment of the Decalogue, direct from God, to which we are always bound and can never be dispensed; however,

at this time, our people are excused from keeping the Lord’s Day holy by attending Sunday Mass. This means that our people must keep the Lord’s Day holy in other ways, at home. Daily Mass is broadcast every day at 9:00 am through EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network)  on channels 30, 229, 370, or 1668.   (Cable or Direct TV)  The channel also broadcasts rosaries from Lourdes, France as well as other meditations throughout the day.

Sunday Mass is broadcast at 6:00 am on Channels 8, 20 (Comcast) and KTSF 26.
